REVIEW: Sally Hansen's Gem Crush

Being the nail lacquer fanatic that I am, when I came across the Sally Hansen Gem Crush collection of nail polishes at first I was excited, then a little sceptical given my past experiences with glitter nail polishes. But when I laid eyes on a bottle of 'Big Money' from Sally Hansen’s Gem Crush collection, I knew I had to at least give this shade a shot because it was so damn pretty!

On your nails, ‘Big Money’ screams glamour; like sparkly drizzled champagne. It is chock-full of gold and silver with a hint of purple glitter. This nail colour is simply gorgeous and glides on the nail so smoothly. But what really impressed me was the great coverage! With simply two coats of nail polish my nails were completely opaque and so sparkly! The nail polish dries on like a matte textured lacquer so if you like a glossy finish you could add a top coat of your preference.

Like most glitter nail polishes, the Sally Hansen Gem Crush 'Big Money' starts to chip off by day three of having it on. However, it is really simple to touch up and I figured out that when the nail polish stays on longer if you opt for a top coat.

Anybody who has used a glitter nail polish before know the hazards of taking it off right? Nail polish remover causes glitter bomb like remains all over your hands and feet and scraping your nail polish over damages your nail bed. But this was where "big Money' really won over me. This nail polish comes of quite easily compared to most glitter based nail polishes. Don't get me wrong, it's still a little bit of a struggle, but I combat this by soaking a cotton pad with nail polish remover and simply soak each nail for about 5 seconds before I start rubbing the remover into my nail and voila! My nails are clean.

All in all, I’d have to say that ‘Big Money’ by Sally Hansen Gem Crush Collection was a good buy, well worth my money and of course, my time writing this article for you guys to go check it out.
